The DataShift is hosting an event during the opening of the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 70) entitled Monitoring by the People for the People: How can civil society and citizen-generated data drive accountability for the 2030 agenda? It will take place on the 26th September between 12:45 – 15:00 in the Church Center for the UN, E 44th St, NY 10017, USA.
This open, interactive event will explore how to harness the power of civil society and citizen-generated data for monitoring the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In particular, it will:
Discuss ways civil society could collaborate to see that its data is used to strengthen SDG monitoring, accountability and progress
Identify concrete activities and action plan for collaboration that civil society can work together on to harness its data for SDG monitoring and accountability
Introduce the new Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data, explain why it is important to civil society and explore how it could support its efforts on SDG monitoring and accountability
