activist and founder of Voice of Women (VoW) Maldives, Thilmeeza
Hussain. Following the election of a new president in the Maldives in
November 2013, national and international civil society groups hope the
new government will respect the fundamental rights of its citizens and
ease restrictions on citizens' rights which characterised the outgoing
regime.
