The Civil Society Index was implemented in Pakistan in 2001 by the Aga Khan Foundation, with the international coordination of CIVICUS. This implementation led to a report presenting the results of the CSI initiative in the country.

Pakistan’s civil society organisations are still struggling with a number of factors relating to their practices and values, adapting to new modes of social life between authoritarian legacies and democratic aspirations, exhibition of conflicting worldviews with opposing interests, which altogether, hampers their success.
The study recommends stronger partnerships with other developmental stakeholders in other to build on their priorities and to discover areas of greater partnerships.
