A Code of Conduct for West African Civil Society Actors

Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) face internal governance issues on a daily basis. The legitimacy challenge that affects the effectiveness of CSOs forces Réseau des Plates Formes d’ONG D’Afrique de l’Ouest et du Centre (REPAOC) members to adopt a code of conduct. This REPAOC Code of Conduct is intended to set our members on the right track.

All members have collectively adopted this code of conduct. Civil society organizations are not just implementers. They also play an important role according to their role. Vis-à-vis the state, they must be credible and unavoidable actors. REPAOC, a network of national NGO platforms, has a major concern to improve this role through the effectiveness of CSOs.

This code of conduct is under the supervision of an ethics committee of three (3) member platforms (FECONG in Mali, PLATONG in Cape Verde and TANGO in The Gambia) of REPAOC elected at the General Assembly (GA). ) of REPAOC. The members of the Ethics Committee have the mission of identifying the ethical problems encountered within the REPAOC, to manage the litigation and to ensure the function of mediation and to produce opinions or general orientations starting from the particular questions for the credibility and recognition of the network.
