The UN Committee Against Torture (CAT) will hold its 83rd session from 10–28 November 2025, where it will review the human rights records of Argentina, Albania Bahrain and Israel. Ahead of this review, CIVICUS, together with SALAM DHR and nine other partner organisations, has submitted a joint report on Bahrain, detailing ongoing abuses including torture in detention, deaths in custody, politically motivated trials, and the silencing of civil society.
The report highlights emblematic cases such as Abdulhadi al-Khawaja, urging the Government of Bahrain to end impunity, reopen civic space, and uphold its obligations under the Convention Against Torture.
